Bonnie Rose Phelps, age 79 of
Somerset, departed this life on Friday, December 16, 2011
at her home.
She was born on May 27, 1932 in
Somerset, KY to the late Jesse and Ida Gibson Simpson.
Mrs. Phelps was a real estate agent for Walton Realty, a
homemaker, and extremely loving mother and grandmother.
She was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by her four
sons, Charles Robert (and Sherry) Ritter of Liberty, KY,
Jeffrey (and Melody) Phelps of Somerset, Lewis “Tee”
(and Lori) Phelps of Somerset, and Billy “Boo” (and
Jeanette) Phelps of Somerset; a daughter, Sara (and Rick)
Girdler of Somerset; ten grandchildren, Jason Ritter,
Jamie Jones, Charley Shea Ritter, Brandon Girdler,
Kelly Barnes, Megan Girdler, Shelbie Phelps, Brett Phelps,
Taylor Phelps, and Kari Taylor; five great grandchildren,
Brady Barnes, Sophie Barnes, Kate Barnes, Mason Pendlleton,
and Trey Taylor; and special caregivers, Kay Pointer,
Marie Price, and Joyce Anderson.
Along with her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E Phelps, whom
she married on December 14, 1957; and a brother, Bill
Simpson.
Visitation for Mrs. Phelps will be
Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00 am at the
Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with a funeral
service to follow at 1:00 pm. Brother Clyde Strunk will
officiate. Burial will be in the Mill Springs National
Cemetery in Nancy, KY.
The family requests expressions of
