Charles “Buster” Whitis, Jr., age 61, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of the Acorn community departed this life on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the University Hospital, Cincinnati, OH.

He was born on August 18, 1950 in Acorn, Kentucky to the late Charlie and Myrtle Whitaker Whitis. He was a shipping clerk for Clermont Steel and an outdoorsman. Mr. Whitis was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Whitis is survived by his  wife, Thelma Whitis;  three sons, Chris Whitis, Rick Burdine, and Steve (and his wife,  Lori) Burdine, all of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter, Kim VanHook of Cincinnati, OH; five brothers, Joe (and Connie) Whitis of Eubank, KY, Andy Hill of Somerset, KY, Bruce Whitaker of Somerset, KY, Earl Daniels and Odell Daniels, both of Elizabethtown, KY; five sisters, Anna (and Bud) Glover of Somerset, KY, Deborah Whitis of Somerset, KY, Janice (and Ralph) Dooley of North Carolina, Susie (and Bob) Bedford of Irvine, KY, and Shirley Daniels of Somerset, KY; eleven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruthy E. Whitis

Visitation for Mr. Whitis will be Monday, December 5^th at 6:00 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 6^th at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Lawson officiating.  Burial will be in the Acorn Cemetery.
