Dorothy Patton Smith, age 90 of Nancy, KY departed this life on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on December 15, 1921 in Naomi, KY to the late Alonzo Tarter and Jenny Lee Patton. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, listening to gospel music, and raising her flowers.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her seven sons, Dormas (and Jean) Smith of Somerset, Leon (and Fern) Smith of Akron, OH, Wayne Smith of Nancy, KY, David (and Angie) Smith of Nancy, KY, Clifton (and Marilyn) Smith of Russell County, KY, Carthel (and Mary) Smith of Somerset, and Clayton (and Renee) Smith of Somerset; five daughters, Nancy Hill of Mason, OH, Liz (and Howard) Turpen of Nancy, KY, Norma Jean (and Bobby) Tarter of Nancy, KY, Phyllis (and David) Belcher Lebanon, TN, and Barbara Keeney of Nancy, KY; thirty-nine grandchildren; fifty-five great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Euell Tarter; husband, Merlin Smith; a son, Russell Smith; two daughters, Edith Burton and Carolyn Gosser; two brothers, Harold Tarter and Other Tarter; three grandchildren, Bobby Gene Tarter Jr., Ralph Smith Jr., and Jerry Smith; and a great granddaughter, Brooklyn Smith.

Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be Tuesday, December 20^th at 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home and then on Wednesday, December 21^st after 10:00 am at Naomi Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21^st at 2:00 pm at the Naomi Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Brian Fudge officiating. Burial will be in the Tarter Cemetery in Nancy, KY.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Tarter Cemetery.
