Oathie D. Carroll, age
76 of Ferguson, KY, departed this life on Friday, January
28, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on May 2,
1934 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Lonnie and Edith Thomas
Carroll. Mr. Carroll was a United States Air Force veteran
of the Korean War, retired police officer for the
Louisville International Airport and member of the First
Apostolic Church of Somerset. He loved shooting pool,
hunting, and collecting coins.
Mr. Carroll is
survived by his wife, Lillie Maxey Carroll, whom he
married on February 14, 1955 in Lawrenceburg, IN; a son,
Randy Carroll (and wife, Nora) of Science Hill, KY; five
daughters, Deborah McGuire of Ferguson, KY, Darlene
Crossley (and husband, Mark)of Virginia, Arlene Dawley
(and husband, Tom) of Virginia, Linda McMackin of
Somerset, KY and Geraldine Whalen (and husband, Jim) of
Somerset, KY; nineteen grandchildren; and three great
grandchildren.
Along with his
parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosie
Brumley and a grandchild.
Visitation for Mr.
Carroll will be Monday, January 31st at 6:00 pm
at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with masonic rites being
conducted by the Mt. Gilead Masonic Lodge #255 at 6:00 pm.
Funeral service will
be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 1st at
the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Dean
Spradlin and Bro. Joseph Cox officiating. Burial will be
in the Angel Cemetery in McCreary County, KY. The American
Legion Post Honor Guard will conduct honors for Mr.
Carroll.
