George Tilman
Valentour, age 87 of the Alpine community, departed this
life on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Valentour was born
on December 12, 1924 in Omega Park, KY to the late
Marshall and Louinda Mayfield Valentour. He was a United
States Navy veteran of WWII, self-employed logger, and
member of Dripping Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Valentour
enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Mr. Valentour married
Clara Helton Valentour on February 15, 1947 in Somerset
and she survives him,
Along with his wife,
he is survived by a daughter, Janet Valentour (and Ross)
of Alpine, KY; two grandchildren, Jessica Richardson (and
Daniel Colyer) of Juggerknot, KY and George Rosston
Valentour of Alpine, KY; three great grandchildren, Tyler
Valentour, Skyler Richardson, and Khloe Colyer; and a
sister, Hazel Hill of Batavia, OH.
Along with his
parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill
Valentour and Junior Valentour; and two sisters, Martha
Calhoun and Eula Williamson.
Visitation for Mr.
Valentour will be Friday, January 27th at 6:00
pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80,
Somerset.
Funeral service will
be held Saturday, January
28th at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Walden
officiating. Burial will be in the Valentour Family
Cemetery in Alpine, KY.
Pallbearers for Mr.
Valentour will be Ross Valentour, Bob Valentour,
Stan Valentour, Tyler Valentour, George R. Valentour,
and Daniel Colyer.
