Freida P. Mize, age 64 of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

She was born on May 4, 1947 in Mt. Victory, Kentucky to Beulah Edwards Jones and the late Earl Jones.  She was a homemaker.  She worked at Farm Bureau , GE and Palm Beach.  She was a loving wife and mother, sister and daughter.  Mrs.  Mize was a Christian and a member of East Somerset Baptist Church.  She dedicated her life to Christ and furthering God’s kingdom.  She loved being with her family and grandchildren.  Mrs. Mize also loved cooking, decorating and she loved the ocean. 

Mrs. Mize is survived by her husband, James Howard Mize, Jr., whom she married on June 25, 1967 in Rogersville, Tennessee; two daughters, Christi (and Jason) Burkhead  and Jamie (and Billy) Bolin both of Somerset, KY; three grandchildren, Madison, Shelby and Matthew; three brothers, David (and Edna) Jones, W. N. (and Pearlie) Jones and Earl Edward (and Carlene) Jones, all of Somerset, KY; a brother-in-law, Gale Mize of Russell Springs, KY; two sisters, Gailya (and Norris) Whitaker and Kathy (and Larry) Morgan of Somerset, KY; her mother-in-law, Juanita Mize of Somerset, KY; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. 

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a niece, Julie Jones.

Visitation for Freida P. Mize will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011 after 6:00 pm at East Somerset Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky. 

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 12:00 noon at East Somerset Baptist
Church with Brother Darvey Fenison officiating.  Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. 

The family request expressions of sympathy be made to the East Somerset Baptist Church Missionary Fund and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
