Lona Katherine Rogers Simpson, age 84, of Somerset passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Simpson was born in Wayne County on March 28, 1925 to the late James & Elizabeth Pierce Rogers. She was a special education aide with the Pulaski County Board of Education and is of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Simpson is survived by her husband, Homer R. Simpson Sr. whom she married July 29, 1944 in Touristville, KY; 4 sons, Michael W. (& Louise) Simpson, Homer Ray Simpson Jr., Roger Lee Simpson, James B. (& Janice) Simpson, all of Somerset and 5 grandchildren, Jonathan, Joy, Kimberly, James Jr., Brian.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, John Rogers and a sister, Loretta Eubanks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 5:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 W. Hwy 80, Somerset, KY.

Funeral services for Lona Katherine Rogers Simpson will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home at 11:00am with Bro Clyde Strunk officiating. Interment will follow in the Bronston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Humane Society.
