Willard Whitis, age 68 of Somerset, departed this life on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Sunrise Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on February 14, 1943 in Somerset, KY to the late Luther and Christine Goff Whitis. He was self-employed sawmill worker and attended the Bogletown Church of God in Somerset.

Mr. Whitis is survived by four brothers, Ronald (and Bonnie) Whitis of Somerset, Denton (and Jackie) Whitis of Berea, KY, Clifton (and Jackie) Whitis of Science Hill, KY; and David Whitis of Somerset; a sister, Pamela Herrin of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Meece.

Visitation for Mr. Whitis will be Wednesday, May 11^th at 12 Noon at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Bro. Randy C. Wiles will officiate. Burial will be in the Whitis Family Cemetery in Science Hill, KY.
